A certified copy is a photocopy of an original document or record, authenticated by a notary public as a true copy of the original. The copy will have an endorsement (stamp) to indicate that it is a true copy of the original document. A certified copy simply indicates that it is a true copy of the original document. The key wording on a certified true copy stamp reads: I hereby certify that the within instrument is a true and correct copy of the original document of which it purports to be a true copy.

What to Expect at your Notary Appointment
When you visit Brosgall Legal's downtown notary office to get your certified copies, you will need to bring the original documents, which we will then photocopy while you wait. We can make as many copies as you need. For the certification, we apply our certified copy stamp to the copy which certifies that the copy is a true copy of the original. We then appying our signature and notary seal. If you need colour photocopies, please make your own copies and bring them in with the original. The appointment takes about 10 minutes, and you will leave with the certified copy, as well as your original document.
