If you have an original document that you cannot part with, a notarized copy can be prepared... and when that document needs to be translated, you'll need a notarized translation. Brosgall Legal | Apostille Services specializes in both of these services, and we'd be pleased to assist. This article will provide more information on this topic.
Owner and principal, Adam Brosgall, is a Vancouver notary public, BC commissioner of oaths, and BC lawyer. He is fully qualified, licenced and insured to certify copies, to notarize translations, and obtain Apostille certifications. If you have any questions, please feel free to send us an email, or call 604-685-2326 to book an appointment.
Original Documents and Photocopies
If you need a certified copy or notarized translation, please bring your original documentaton to our office. You can bring in your own copies to save time, especially if you want colour copies, but you must always have the original.
Certified Copy Procedure
Typically, we will photocopy your original document and certify that the photocopy is a true and correct copy of the original document. We then apply our stamp, signature and notarial seal. This procedure creates a certified true copy, also known as a notarized copy.
Certified Translation Procedure
If your document also needs to be translated, we suggest you contact a certified translator at STIBC (the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia). Their website is: www.stibc.org. Once that is done, bring us the translation, and the original document. The certified copy of your document that we make, and the certified translation are attached together; and this is known as a notarized translation. A notarized translation, plus an Apostille which we can assist with as well, ensures that your document will be accepted worldwide. We work closely with many STIBC Certified Translators.
International Apostille Procedure
Notarized translations are often used as the basis for international Apostilles - which is another important service we can handle for you. A sample Apostille certificate if attached. Please contact us for more details about our Apostille services.
